The BIG Community Survey was a major tool used to reveal residents' perspectives and priorities regarding Oro Valley's future. The survey cast the broadest net to capture residents' views. It was promoted through several means to invite participation, including events, social media, roadway signs, OV Style, and more. Additionally, the survey was:

  • Printed in the Northwest Explorer
  • Promoted by postcards that were mailed to every household.
  • Included with all OV Water Utility customer bills.

The survey was open from February 1, 2024 - March 15, 2024. The community achieved a high response rate with approximately 3,016 survey responses. To make the data more consumable, the report is divided into three parts:

All survey responses are important and will be utilized to create the next 10-uear plan. However, it is very important to note the phone survey is the only one that is statistically valid and projectable to all adults (18+) in OV. This means it is the most reliable survey method and holds a 95% confidence level. If the survey were conducted 100 times, the outcome would be the same or very similar 95 out of the 100 times.

Although an emphasis is placed on the phone survey, there is a significant correlation and agreement across all three survey methods. Therefore, the results of this extensive survey process represent the opinions and priorities of the community in a consistent, significantly valid manner. Residents can confidently utilize the survey findings as part of the development of OV’s Path Forward.
